Carnyx Records: A new folk / jazz label based in North Wales and Manchester, UK. 

 

Here we stand. The early years of a new millennium. A world of increasing globalisation and star-crosssed cultures. Our palate is full of the rich colours and influences of centuries of tradition and creativity. There is so much great music behind us - and around us. Sometimes it seems as if we’ve reached a point, particularly in the jazz arena, where everything has already been done.

 

Perhaps the journey toward finding one’s own voice is more about waiting for all these confusions of influences to crystallise, and allowing the music to find its own pathway out of you. The struggle is to let it all merge in your head … and then play! – not to contrive, or try to recreate, or to deliberately force.

 

Carnyx Records aims to give voice to creative music that stems from this natural filtration of influence.
